In Noale, one of the most enchanting towns in Italy’s Veneto region, the municipality sought to illuminate its Renaissance-era porticoes, in order to achieve visual coherence among the diverse architectural styles, shopfronts, and pavements of varying heights. Here, it would be light that unified the whole, guiding visitors inside and beyond the town’s medieval walls.

Harmony Through Light
Coordinated by Studio Pasetti Lighting and architect Alberto Pasetti Bombardella, we designed the lantern at the heart of the concept, later realized in four distinct versions, navigating numerous urban constraints regarding installation and power supply. One of Aggio’s rare forays into public-space furnishings.
The Challenge
Murano blown-glass lanterns combining diffused and spot lighting – elegance meets functionality.
Pasetti Lighting’s concept reinterprets an historic lantern in a contemporary key, streamlining its forms while creating an array of models for various applications, resulting in a unified lighting scheme with strong visual impact throughout.
- Dual Light Source
Each lantern combines vertical diffused light with a spotlight at its base, illuminating the walkway below. - Software Control
Settings may be remotely customized, so that lighting adapts seamlessly throughout the course of the day and into night. - Four Variants
We developed the full range of lantern models: two trapezoidal versions (suspended and ceiling-mounted), a cube-shaped lamp for lower ceilings, and a wall-mounted version, ideal for sections where the porticoes are interrupted along the walkway. - Outdoor Features
The lanterns have an IP55 rating for protection against dust and water splashes, and the Murano blown glass is treated with a polymer spray coating. The wall-mounted lamps offer even greater rain resistance. - Brass Finish
Crafted from 304 stainless steel, the lamps feature a layered brass finish applied via electroplating.
The Solution
A custom-designed lantern, now an icon of Noale’s historic center.
While we only occasionally work with public institutions, the Porticoes of Noale project proved especially formative – both for the community’s close attention to every detail of the project and for the many constraints involving urban renewal projects, including the requirement to route all copper piping for the lamps.
We were thrilled when the prototype was judged flawless at the town hall presentation, and the project proceeded smoothly and efficiently. This iconic lantern has now entered series production in collaboration with Pasetti Lighting, and has become a lasting symbol of Noale’s historic center.
